Earlham College, Center for Visual and Performing Arts

An open and inviting student lounge forms the heart of this new, 50,000-square-foot building that is home to weaving, painting, metal, and ceramic studios as well as the Music and Theatre Departments. A music performance hall with 260 retractable seats will host band, chorus, and drum ensembles, as well as amplified lectures, movies, and banquets. The 150-seat studio theatre provides a dedicated location for the Theatre Department and the flexibility it needs for its vast array of shows. A recording space ties the two venues together, while local control booths allow technicians to work behind the scenes. Practice rooms and rehearsal studios for jazz, percussion, voice, and gamelan round out the program of this beautiful arts center.
