christ the king jesuit college preparatory school
John Ronan Architects
This new building in the Austin neighborhood is the first new Catholic high school built on the west side of Chicago in 85 years. In the 200-seat chapel, three sides of the room are glazed, and a three-story light well brings in light from above. The seating is arranged to take advantage of the light well for choral acoustics, with the choir singing into the full reverberant volume. Classroom din and cafeteria activities are acoustically held down by Tectum panels, some of which are backed to contain mechanical equipment and its noise.
