Fourth Church is among Chicago’s most iconic buildings, a neo-Gothic island of calm (by Ralph Adams Cram) in the frenzy of the Magnificent Mile. In addition to housing the church preschool and elegant 350-seat Buchanan Chapel, the new 5-story Graz Center provides a gathering space and a common entry point for congregation members and visitors arriving at Fourth Church from all directions. This versatile room is an overflow space for holiday services and is well-used throughout the year for Children’s Chapel, weddings, and a full range of church programs, as well as rentals for community events. Buchanan Chapel’s wonderful acoustics for music caught the attention of the Music Institute of Chicago which now uses the Gratz Center as the home of its downtown campus.
