When PNC decided to build a new tower for their corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, their goal was making it the “Greenest high rise in America”. With admirable goals came a myriad of acoustic challenges, not the least of which was keeping city noise out and controlling the transfer of sound between floors with openings throughout the building. In addition to typical office floors, the tower features two conference center floors, an executive office floor, and a double-height floor with a television studio and a 250-seat auditorium. Both the auditorium and television studio are equipped to record programming for internal use or to connect with a broadcast satellite feed.
