A short walk from the Hudson River in the Bronx, Riverdale Country School offers a quiet break from the hustle of New York. Home to students, teachers, and members of the community, the replacement of their existing 18,000 sf Perkins Building is viewed as a learning environment and performance venue and houses several programmatic elements including the 200-seat theater, classrooms, staff offices, cafeteria, and various multipurpose spaces.
The theater, through its design, is a flexible space that uses both acoustics and AV systems to allow for support of musicians and young voices, a comfortable environment for drama performances, presentations, and meetings, as well as amplified events.
Interactive AV systems in the classrooms, as well as acoustically absorptive treatments in the spaces, create an environment that teachers can comfortably instruct their students with intuitively designed educational tools.
